Preliminary results show 90 riders and 14 co-riders completed the eighth annual Smackdab Summer Solstice Run. 112 people started the ride in the morning. Four participants on two bikes did not complete the ride due to one of the bikes getting a flat tire 80 miles from the finish. Four others stopped to offer them roadside support and as a result arrived after the 10:25PM cut-off.
The weather for this year’s ride was free of rain, but riders had to deal with heat indexes nearing 100°F and high winds that generated significant dust storms along Highway 281.
